GS1 Asia Pacific Regional Forum 2024

We are honoured to once again host the GS1 Asia Pacific Regional Forum 2024 (“the Forum”) in Hong Kong. This event brings together the GS1 community from across the Asia Pacific region. It provides a platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, strategic discussions on on-going regional projects and respond to the challenges in region.

Trainings is also an integral part of the Forum to meet the needs of the region together with the compliance of the GS1 standards.

The Forum also serves as a platform for delegates to meet and network, to connect and share their best practices.

CUHK Medical Center Site Visit (29 Oct, Tuesday)

CUHK Medical Centre (CUHKMC) is the first smart hospital with full 5G coverage in Hong Kong, wholly owned by The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Opened since 2021, CUHKMC uses pioneering healthcare solutions including an electronic and paperless medical record system, an EDI-based procurement platform, RFID tags on hospital linen, automated drug dispensing & packaging system, an Internet of Things-connected drug trolley called E-Medcart, etc., designed to automate healthcare procedures to reduce administrative workloads for medical professionals and ultimately ensuring patient safety.

VISA

All visitors to Hong Kong must have a passport that is valid for at least six months, counting from the date of departure for Hong Kong. 

Nationals of about 170 countries and territories may visit Hong Kong visa-free for a period ranging from 7 to 180 days.

Transportation in Hong Kong

The most popular transportations in Hong Kong are MTR (Mass Transit Railways) , Public Buses and Taxis.

Recommended transport from Hong Kong Airport to the Forum Venue (Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre) :

1. Airport Express / MTR
Estimated fare: HK$115 (one way). Estimated Transit time: ~55 mins (included 12mins walk from Exhibition Centre MTR B3 Exit)

 

2. Taxi
Estimated fare: HK$320-450 (one way). Estimated Transit time: ~40-50 min(s) (depends on traffic situation)
 

3. Bus
Route no. A11 or E11 to Wanchai and change to route no. 40M to the HKCEC (Estimated time: 80 mins)

In October, the average temperature ranges from 23 - 28°C degrees / 73-82° F degrees.

 

Languages & Time zone

Chinese and English are the official languages of Hong Kong. English is widely used in the Government and by the legal, professional and business sectors. Trilingual professionals who speak English, Cantonese and Putonghua play a vital role in the numerous enterprises trading in Hong Kong.

Currency

The legal tender in Hong Kong is the Hong Kong dollar (HKD), which is pegged to the US dollar at a rate of about 7.80 HKD to 1 USD, although exchange rates may fluctuate slightly. 
 

Electricity

The standard electrical voltage in Hong Kong is 220 volts AC, 50Hz. Most hotel bathrooms also have outlets for 100 volts, but if not, you will need a transformer for any appliance or electrical equipment. The majority of electrical outlets in Hong Kong take a three-pronged UK-style plug.
